DESTINO PROGRESO 2008 is based on ideas of Conquest and Desire. Filming and photography were developed in Yucatan (Mexico). The project is an installation composed of a set of five video stations, a group of photographs and some printed posters. The actions elaborate on staged and theatrical impersonations addressing: workers’ rights, charity speeches coming from the political institution, depictions of the other objectifying human characters that mimic a zoo/sculpture garden in the tropics, suburban architecture. Different practices (dance, labor, talk, spectatorship) intersect creating a layered image. Mixed stereotypes and intersections of languages (Spanish, Maya or English) provoke chaotic dislocations where it becomes difficult to distinguish or isolate what is usually culturally built.
