The HOLE

 

Initially, an open and irregular hole is thought out ON/IN the side facade of the Espai d'art de Castelló. The opening is intended to act as a fisting procedure, in order to enter, inhabit and know part of the interior of the institution. The opening activates an interior space with direct and not controlled access from the street. The shape will look like a dead-end tunnel with  access only from the exterior, while the exhibition space inside of the museum will show a cubicular non-accessible volume.

During the negotiation’s process with different local politicians, who are the legal owners of the institution, the initial broken/irregular shape of the opening was transformed in a simple door shape aperture. The same authorities requested the installation of an infra red camera and a smoke detector.

After a month of existence and use of The HOLE, the camera and the smoke detector were ripped off and stolen by an unknown visitor at night. The surveillance mechanics were not replaced.
